Tina and Edward were fabulous. They were full of energy, creativity and made the experience really fun for us. They are extremely well priced and great value for money. They captured our day perfectly and we have some epic photos as memories. Thank you so much
Francesca
There is something wonderfully timeless about a classic English wedding.
A historic town house. A garden full of greenery. Family and friends gathered together. A relaxed celebration that moves from one part of the day to the next, with plenty of laughter, emotion and those little moments nobody planned.

Francesca and Alan’s wedding was exactly that.
Their day began with a legal wedding ceremony at York House in Twickenham, before moving to The Magpie in Sunbury for their wedding banquet and evening celebrations.
With around five hours of wedding photography coverage, we had plenty of time to tell the story properly: from the nerves and excitement before the ceremony to confetti, family photographs, relaxed portraits, dinner, dancing and a final couple’s shoot beside the River Thames.

And, as always, it was the people in between those moments that made the photographs.
A Legal Wedding Ceremony at York House, Twickenham

The afternoon began at York House, one of those venues that seems to give you a little bit of everything a wedding photographer could want.
The historic town house provides an elegant backdrop for the ceremony, while the surrounding gardens and green spaces offer plenty of opportunities for photographs without having to travel somewhere else.

This was our third wedding at York House, and we were very happy to return.
Of course, returning to a venue doesn’t mean photographing the same wedding three times.
Every couple brings their own people, their own personalities and their own little moments. The surroundings might be familiar, but the story never is.
For Francesca and Alan, the ceremony was intimate, emotional, and full of happiness as they officially became husband and wife.

Watching the Moments Around Them
One thing we particularly enjoyed about this wedding was being able to concentrate so much of our attention on the people around Francesca and Alan.
They weren’t having wedding videography, which meant our second photographer could focus entirely on candid photography throughout the day.
While I concentrated on the couple and the key photographs, our second photographer was watching everything happening around them.

The reactions.
The conversations.
The laughter.
The grandparents.
The friends catching up.
The little looks between family members.
Those moments can be easy to overlook on a wedding day because nobody has specifically scheduled them.
But they are often the photographs that bring the day back most vividly.

For us, wedding photography has never been only about photographing the couple. It’s about photographing the people who came because they matter to them.
After the ceremony came one of those wonderfully chaotic wedding moments: confetti.

Confetti, Family Photographs & Time Together
Everyone gathered outside, and we made the most of the opportunity for photographs before moving into the family and group photographs.
After that, Francesca and Alan had some time together for portraits around York House.
This is where we like to give couples a mixture of photographs.

Some images are more carefully composed, taking advantage of the architecture, light, and surroundings.
Others are much more relaxed.
A walk through the gardens. A moment between photographs. A laugh. A little bit of movement.
You don’t have to spend your wedding day standing still and looking at a camera to have beautiful photographs.

From York House to The Magpie in Sunbury
From Twickenham, we headed to Sunbury for the wedding banquet at The Magpie.
The change of location gave the day an entirely different atmosphere.

York House has the feeling of a historic English town house, while The Magpie, beside the River Thames, brought a much more relaxed and welcoming atmosphere to the celebrations.
The day continued with the cake cutting, first dance and plenty of dancing with family and friends.
And this is where having a second photographer focused on candid moments really came into its own.

While the main events were happening, there were always smaller stories happening around the room.
A conversation.
A laugh.
Someone getting pulled onto the dance floor.
A reaction to the speeches.
The people who were not necessarily aware they were being photographed.
Those are the photographs that make a wedding gallery feel like a complete story rather than simply a collection of highlights.

A Sunset Couple Shoot by the River Thames
Later in the day, we took Francesca and Alan outside for another couple’s portrait session.
This time, the surroundings were completely different.
The River Thames, Sunbury Park, the greenery and the changing evening light created a softer, more romantic atmosphere than the earlier photographs at York House.
I love this part of a wedding day because the photographs don’t have to feel like a repeat of the earlier portraits.
The light has changed.

The couple has relaxed.
The energy of the day has shifted.
And suddenly you can create something completely different.
Where conditions and location allow, we also use our professional drone to create photographs from above. It gives us another way of looking at the couple and the landscape around them.
It is one of the reasons we love photographing weddings around South West London and Surrey. You don’t necessarily need a destination wedding to have variety. Sometimes the most interesting visual changes are already within a few miles of where you’re celebrating.

Photographing Francesca, Alan & Their Daughter
One of the most meaningful parts of the day was photographing Francesca and Alan with their daughter.
There were plenty of beautiful photographs of the three of them together, as well as quieter moments between her and each of her parents.
These photographs matter for a different reason.
They are not only photographs of a wedding.
They are photographs of a family at a particular point in its story.

Years from now, these images won’t simply remind Francesca and Alan what their wedding looked like. They will remind them what their family looked like then, the people they loved, the places they were together, and the little person who was right there in the middle of it all.
That is one of the things I love most about wedding photography.
You think you are photographing one day.
You are actually photographing a piece of someone’s family history.

A Relaxed English Wedding in Twickenham & Sunbury
From the legal ceremony at York House to the celebrations at The Magpie, Francesca and Alan’s wedding had everything we love about a relaxed classic English wedding.
Historic architecture.
Green gardens.
Confetti.
Family.
Candid moments.
Beautiful portraits.
The River Thames.
Dancing.
And, most importantly, the people who made the day theirs.
It was also a lovely reminder of why we enjoy returning to familiar venues.
We’ve photographed York House before, and I’m sure we’ll photograph it again. But every couple changes the story.
The same building can look completely different when the people inside it are different.
After saying goodbye to Francesca, Alan and their guests, we made our way back towards Richmond, stopping for a walk along the riverside before heading back to the studio.
Thank you, Francesca and Alan, for trusting us to photograph such a lovely part of your story.
We hope these photographs bring the day back to you for many years to come.
