In the distant past, everyone looked towards royal couples to find inspiration for their weddings. We do not have plenty of royalty today, but we are not deprived of spectacular wedding ceremonies to look up to. Our red carpet stars have surprised us many times with their ability to find admiration-worthy destinations for tying the knot.

From the lands far away to the magical and romantic ceremonies in their own countries, the most lovable A-listers sure know how to throw a party. Here are some occasions when they have truly amazed us.

Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, Odescalchi Castle, Rome, Italy

Tom Katie Rome

Though this couple is no longer together, we cannot help ourselves to look with a dose of nostalgia at their amazingly romantic wedding ceremony in the Odescalchi Castle just outside Rome. The duo got married seven months after the birth of their daughter and when their love was flourishing in the 15th century castle. The combination of Holmes’ Armani dress and Italy(which is always a great choice for weddings) made the ceremony even more perfect.

David and Victoria Beckham, Luttrellstown Castle, County Dublin, Ireland

Britain’s second favourite couple (and we might even call them the second royal couple), right after the royal couple, simply had to get married in a castle. The extraordinary ceremony included fireworks display, an 18-piece orchestra and a reception for 230 guests. The Luttrellstown Castle, or should we call it the Beckingham Palace, besides the breathtaking interior also has lovely and enormous gardens outside. Ireland is an ideal wedding destination for couples in love with nature and medieval castles.

Beckham Dublin

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Cardinal Cerretti Memorial Chapel, Sydney, Australia
Britain has the Beckham duo and Australia has Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban. They did not even want to search outside of their country for a perfect place to say “I do”. On the contrary, they got married in the heart of Australia, Sydney, in a glamorous and unique gothic-style chapel. It cannot be more romantic than that; unless if they have chosen some of the fabulous waterfront wedding venues Sydney has to offer.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Chateau Miraval, France
The Hollywood royal couple could not even settle with renting the castle, they have bought it, instead. Popularly called “Brangelina” got married in a medieval castle surrounded by luxurious garden, a private lake, a swimming pool and even a cinema. Though the ceremony was described as a “relaxed affair”, we cannot imagine a thing like that in a castle worth more than 60 million U.S. dollars located in the country of love.

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin, Venice, Italy
Another Italian love affair on the list. Venice is one of the most romantic cities on the planet, and no wonder the old charmer such as George Clooney choose specifically this destination for starting his happily ever after. The sumptuous hotel Aman Canal Grande with the view on Venice’s Canal Grande was the main venue. The duo traveled to and from the hotel via boat with none other than Rome’s former mayor, Walter Veltroni, who was the ceremony’s officiant.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Forte di Belvedere, Florence, Italy
It is the Kardashians’ motto to go big or go extinct, and what can be bigger than the wedding in the heart of Europe, Italy. The famous love-duo got married in a fortress that dates back to the 16th century and was built by the very Medici family. The panoramic view from the top of the fortress came with the price and the prestige of such wedding ceremony was a welcomed addition.

These destinations were really fabulous and we would expect nothing less from our favourite celebs. They have really made the job more difficult for everyone else who will try to impress the public with their sumptuous ceremonies.
